What is the difference between structural design and structural analysis?

Structural Analysis

Here is a beam with three 20 mm diameter bars at bottom and two 12 mm bars at top. Now we have to calculate the load this beam can take, this process of evaluating the load a given beam can carry is known as structural analysis.

Structural Design

Here is a beam carrying Udl of 10kn/m, now we have to evaluate the section which can carry this load without failure also the steel reinforcement in it. This process of evaluating the sectiom dimensions & reinforcement details is known as structural design.
