Difference Between R.C.C. Frame & Load Bearing Structure??

In R.C.C. framed structure, whole load supported on beams & slabs and transferred through columns to footings. In load bearing structure, whole load supported and transferred by masonry wall.

RCC Framed Structure

Load transfer path is from slab to beam, beam to column and column to footing.
Multi storey buildings can be constructed.
Though resistant to Earthquake, if not properly designed can be more hazardous also.
Carpet area available is more.
Mostly used form of construction.
Excavation for this type of construction is less.
It is less labour intensive.
Speed of construction is more.
It consumes less brick.
It consumes more cement & steel.

Load Bearing Structure

Load transfer path is from slabs to walls and walls to footing.

Limited storeyed buildings only be constructed.

Less resistant to Earthquake.

Carpet area available is less.

Rarely used form of construction now days.

Excavation for this type of construction is more.

It consumes more brick.

It consumes less cement & steel.
